The Challenge
New York publishes school budget data across more than a dozen separate state and federal filings. It is technically public and practically unreadable — a parent who wants to know where their school taxes go has no realistic way to find out, and no way to compare their district against the one next door.
Our Approach
We treated verifiability as the product. Every figure on the site traces back to the public filing it came from, and a reader can click any number on a district page to check the source. Coverage was built by ingesting and normalising fourteen public data sources into a single model, then generating a page for every district, school, tax profile and course-planning view rather than hiding it all behind a search box.

A bilingual, source-linked transparency platform covering every New York school district — public, charter, private and special-education placement — with district comparison, school tax profiles, course planning, budget leaderboards and a published methodology. Free, no logins, no paywalls.
